Fellows Book Online Version 2020

12 Fellows Talk 1 Hello everybody, I hope you are well. It is a pleasure, an honour and a responsibility to be the first speaker in this Fellows talk. I would like to talk to you today about leadership, talent and failure. I don’t want to teach you anything, this is not a lecture and I’m not a teacher. What I would like to do is to share my own personal experiences and give you something to think about, and maybe later discuss what your thoughts are and have a conversation. Obviously, this is a major topic and will require much more time, a few hours, but I’ll try to be concise and short, and talk to you in about 15 minutes. Well first I would like to start by saying, I consider myself very lucky because I’m one of those people that has managed to transform a passion into a job, into a profession, a career. In Italy we have a saying that my grandfather used to say: “If you do for living something that you absolutely love, it would be as if you never worked a one day in your life”. I consider myself very lucky and I joke about it by saying I’ve been unemployed most of my life, as I never felt as if I was actually working because I was doing something that I was absolutely passionate about.
