26 Fellows Talk 5 Off the Earth, for the Earth. Team lessons in Space Flight. Today I am going to show you that space flight is a little like a team sport. A lot of the things we have learnt from successful space flight can be applied to different team sports, be it E-sports or mainstream team sports, even lessons for life. So first, a little about me, I was the oldest of nine kids, I grew up in the United States in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Growing up I wanted to become an astronaut, watching people walk on the moon I said, “This is my dream, this what I want to do”. Like a sports person who goes through a sequence of better and better leagues, I did this with my education and training. I went to some very fine schools, worked hard, studied hard, I studied things that interested and motivated me, I studied Aero/ Astro engineering and planetary sciences. I also joined the Air Force, university is very expensive in the USA, but the Air Force gave me a scholarship to pay for my college. It was also very exciting as they had lots of interesting jobs, I was on the Air Force team, I got to go to test pilot school and fly F-16’s and F-15’s, I even Mike Fincke NASA Astronaut
