Fellows Book Online Version 2020

42 Edgar Cardoso (FC Shakhtar Donetsk) kicked off the workshop right away saying that he was “Fascinated by the will to fight for her dreams. In football as well, everyone has ups and downs and the way you face the difficulties is really important. Adversity is important to grow in sport as well as in life. We need to be surrounded by difficulties”. Andrea Scanavino (Italian Football Federation & FC Zenit) added, “People are willing to help each other, to love each other. Everywhere I found people that helped me and still I was very positively surprised by the help and support that the parents of Bebe provided her. This for me was a fantastic demonstration of love.” “The message that I’ll bring back home for myself, for my profession and for my life, is the one related with the positive mindset” was the comment of Joana Cerqueira (FC Porto). She added, “You really inspired me with your attitude, your emotion and your energy. For me it is really incredible how you have taken an adversity and work on it to inspire others.” Hugo Oliveira (S.L Benfica) focused his attention on communication and the importance remarked by Bebe that it has in sport nowadays. “The group of staff that are supporting the teams are getting bigger and bigger and I think it is really important to give everyone space to share their point of view in order to work as a team.” “What resonates with me - said Jordi Fernandez Lie (FC Barcelona) – was the fact that sometimes we tend to overcomplicate things, we are studying every little detail in order to maximize our chances to reach success and that is good. What we risk is to lose the sight of the individual, of the personal support each person needs in order to express their own potential. What I am trying to say basically is that personal relationships are really powerful”. Claudio Donatelli (Italian Football Federation) was plugging into what was started by the Spanish colleague adding that “ Bebe was receiving amazing support from her family and it is great to see how she is devoted now to give it back. This for me is the key of success, the secret to develop a bright future”. “You have to be able to be positive in life and in sport as well” was the contribution of Maria Ilaria Pasqui (FC Internazionale Milano) that went ahead by saying, “It was amazing to hear a person that faced so many difficulties in her life to refer to herself as a lucky one. That’s something that Bebe shared with us and was great to hear”. “I cannot agree more,” said Christian Domingo Chiu (Real Madrid C.F) . “Attitude is extremely important.” Jantho Greyling (AFC Ajax) highlighted the role of the mind: “The power of the mind is an amazing thing. We really can work to achieve the unbelievable and beyond. I am really pleased to receive this kind of inspiration from Vio’s experience”. Difficulties, joy, passion and support were some of the concepts that exalted the Fellows, pushing them once again to a constructive dialogue. The talk of Bebe Vio seemed to touch our fellows particularly for the energy and the passion transmitted. The energy she used to deliver the message was a common theme and lit up the conversation as well mentioned by Othoniel Gonzalez (LA Galaxy) right at the start: “I was really impressed by the energy, the emotion, and the passion to overcome adversity. The will, the energy and the passion to help others is unbelievable”. The conversation evolved on this topic at first and Bebe was recognized from all Bebe Vio Workshop 2
