Half of the respondents had a PhD degree, 13 years (IQR, 6 to 22 years) years of experience in professional football, and 3.5 years (IQR, 1 to 5 years) spent at the respective organisation. Strategy Most and the majority of the club respondents stated that the first team and academy medical and performance operations are aligned, with medical staff overseeing academy medical operations reporting to those overseeing the first team. Almost all clubs stated that academy medical and performance strategies are aligned, whereas approximately a third of the clubs medical and performance operations are led by the same individual. The majority of national federations respondents indicated alignment between the first team and academy medical and performance operations. Likewise, staff members overseeing the medical strategy report to first team staff in most of the national federations.
