Aspire in the World Fellows Book - 2025

30 31 11TH ASPIRE ACADEMY GLOBAL SUMMIT ASPIRE IN THE WORLD FELLOWS Good morning everyone. It is a fact right now that nowadays, especially that in early ages, we are trying to improve players fitness wise. Because all these tactics, the man to man, the presssing, high pressing during the whole game, all this is a consequence of being more athletic, growing the players in that way. We were trying to do that four years ago, but especially now, we have seen in the last few years. A big change has been the analysis in general, football is more analyzed than ever. We are trying to analyze opponents, our team, make conclusions, try to get the games to a different level, just trying to analyze every single detail. Sometimes it is said that the small details make a big difference, and it’s true also. Another important change has been the stats we use now. In the paste decade we are seeing that the stats are at a massively different level. Everybody is following the stats. The stats are part of the game right now. They are here to stay, so we need to work with them and it’s very interesting and another change. (Speaking) Paco de Miguel: In the last years has been the GPS. Now they’re telling us a massive information about the external load, the mechanical load how much we run in different distance, in different intensities, and also the accelerations, jumps, everything. But it’s true as well that we are very focused on the external load. Which means, what can you do? Not much in the internal load, which is the body. It’s something that we are missing and we are working on it because it’s very important to get the players fit, especially game to game. I think later on you will speak about the congested calendar. We have noticed that high intensity running has increased up to 30%, especially in the last 15 years, which is a massive change. Also the sprint is up 35%, which is also very high in our portrait. To understand how the goals are scored, we are making our own analysis. Here you can see, we try to divide. In two groups, the raw data, we call it to the analysis of 183 goals analyzed. And also we call it balance data that is 70 goals, more or less coming from the nine top leagues in theworld. We have a lot of conclusions on that and we are still doing it. The main one is about the how many passes, the number of passes we need to score. A goal you can see in this chart is quite significant that between one and five are the passes that you need to score a goal. That’s the real football right now in the raw data, but also in the balanced data is exactly the same. Also, it’s important to know in which part of the pitch you regain the ball before to score. Obviously, I have to say that this study is just with the open game goals, not set pieces. So we noticed that up to 41%, we regainedtheball inthe intheopponent half. That’s very interesting because most of the teams, they are playing from the back. You don’t regain the ball in the box or around the box because it’s quite easy to play there. But straight away in the next area is where massively, we noticed that you are regaining the balls and also in the balanced view is even higher, 51% of the goals are from that part of the pitch. So the conclusions are that we can see that we don’t need more than four passes, five passes in 68% of the goals in the game. That means that the game became quicker and vertical. So we are playing with more speed and more verticality. Also the transitions are important because we have high recoveries, up to 54% of the goals are scored from quick transitions, we score the goals when the other team is disorganized. That’s very important as well. That’s the reason why the teams, they are pressing high and also they try to play at the back of the defenders of the opposition team. High pressing and runs in behind.
