Aspire in the World Fellows Book - 2022
13 12 Dynamic of the Summit The Aspire Academy Global Summit is a milestone in the Aspire in the World Fellows program, in which delegates of Fellows members attend the Summit to discuss methodological and applied principles inherent to different topics related to football performance. This special edition of the Summit brought together not only the top 38 Clubs and 12 Federations from 5 Continents as part of the Aspire in the World Fellows, but we also had the privilege of welcoming representatives from the 32 National Federations that qualified for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The dynamic of the Summit included a Master Class, Star Chats, Round Tables, a Real-Time Investigation and Workshops, with the aim to stimulate discussions on the Summit topics selected each year. Master Class The Summit was opened with a one-hour master class driven by a world- wide recognized football manager. This master class was a passionate and inspirational speech, with innovative emotional leadership concepts and training methodologies. Stars Chats Three Stars Chats were held during the two days of the Summit involving a notable manager, coaches and former football players. These professionals were interviewed sharing their insight experiences and knowledge with the audience. Round Tables Three main topics were discussed during the two days of the summit and each topic was made up of two halves of 45 minutes sessions per topic. Each session was conducted by a moderator and three guest speakers from different Clubs/Federations. The Aspire Fellows were part of the audience and were involved in the interaction with the guest speakers not only through questions but also engaging in debates regarding current practices and philosophies. Each session started with a preamble on the topic from the moderator and a few minutes of introduction from the three speakers, including an overview of their specific activities related to the designated topic. The sessions progressed to an open chat with questions from both the moderators and the audience. Real-Time Investigation Following up on research activities over recent years, the 8th Aspire Academy Global Summit represented another major turning point featuring delegates taking part in an investigation live on this occasion. To shed light on the data analytics infrastructure and processes in place at modern football clubs and national federations, the joint Scientific Committee of the Aspire in the World Fellows and FIFA collaborated continuously during 2022 to design a short real-time investigation. This investigation sought to gather perspectives on general issues relating to data ecosystems, the general importance of using interfaces and modern analytics in performance analysis to support the decision-making of coaching staff. The outcomes of this real-time investigation will serve to understand the current state of data analytics infrastructure and the recruitment and development of data-analytics expertise in modern football organisations, with the ultimate aim to aid support staff to enhance player development strategies in the foreseeable future. Workshops Our workshops provide a unique window of opportunity for knowledge sharing on selected topics in an informal setting. On the present occasion hosting representatives with expertise predominantly in applied sports sciences and performance analysis, the topics of this Summit edition were debated from physical performance and technical-related perspectives. Our workshops featured exchanges with representatives from elite clubs and national federations distributed based on their domain knowledge and expertise. At the beginning of the Summit and at the end of the last day, all the delegates were involved in two workshops of 90 minutes each. There were 6 workshops (two for each topic) which were conducted simultaneously on the pitch. All speakers and their club colleagues who were involved in the Round Table discussions gathered for an in-depth debate on their assigned topic during these workshops. At the end of the Summit the moderator and one representative of a Club/Federation from each topic shared the key outcomes and conclusions of their workshop discussion with all the audience.
