I believe this is the better way to win games. How do I convince them? Sometimes they have to convince me also. But it’s very easy when I have some meetings with some presidents, some directors, they must know my ideas. Or they believe this is the best way, or it’s better we don’t work together, for me it’s very easy, I want to be where the people believe in me, in my ideas. if someone asks me just to play for the results, I think we don’t have many chances to work together because I love so much the game, I love so much to play well. So, when, when I have meetings with the presidents, with the directors, they already know me and then if they believe in my ideas, it’s easy. There’s nothingwrongwith being romantic in football. I think everybodywould agreewith that, that’s some challengewhen you’re dealing with owners and presidents of football clubs. In the end, they want the results, theywant to win as a head coach. Howdo you deal with that pressure? Howdo you go about convincing the presidents, the owners, when you sit in the boardroom to explain that you’ve lost amatch but wow, didn’t we playwell? It’s important also to feel the players, to believe in your ideas is important and also to convince the players that the way to play will bring them value. There will be better players, they will have more interventions in the game, they will have a bigger participation and when they believe it’s easier. So, what’s happening right now iswhere it is in your heart, this is howyou like to play and it’sworkingwith Lille, it’s working in France? Let’s talk about your tactics, you’re known as astute in this area, and you’ve changed in theway you playwhen you came to Roma. How important is that to you? If you get the right result, or what are your feelings about thewayyouset your teamupnow? To build a team in the way to play in Ukraine is different than to build a teamhere in Italy. We know in Ukraine at Shakhtar, for example, we play 95 percent of the games in the last 30 meters, here in Italy every game is different. The game is very strategic, and we have to study very well the opponents and you have to adapt your strategy to the opponents. In France is also different, the game is more open, we have to build a team and be different in the different context. For me, it’s important to understand that because I can give an example in Italy, I learned a lot here with the Italian coach. I start to see the gamewith adifferent perspective because when we are in Portugal, we don’t feel the necessity to change something in your team and here in Italy, you have a different game every weekend. From the strategic point of view, you must be different also, so different experiences, different championships, a different way to play, we can speak a lot about this but what is important to understand is that we should learn, we should grow with the different ideas of the championships. In Lille, tell us about what your philosophy andmethodology is. The statistics showthat it didn’t take you long to be the teamwith themost possession in the league like PSG andMonacomaybe ahead of you. We are the team who recover more balls and high pressure, this is our identity. Like I said, for me is important to dominate games and possession is one important thing, the high pressure is also one important thing, the lost ball preparation is also important more in France where you have, so many teams who play in counter attack with so many fast players.
