/103 Your career was successful and long as a football player, nowyou are a high-profile manager, what advicewould you give to youngcoaches, becauseyouhavea privileged point of view. Leadership leads me to thinking about sharing, and you are sharing today here with us. Howdo you express the idea of sharing? I love sharing with people, I love sharing with children, with kids, I like to listen to people. I am 50 now, and I still believe that you learn from others every day. Sharing is a fundamental value for every human being. When you have something that you can pass on to others, you have to do that. Coaches need to be credible, first of all, and then if they are convinced of their abilities, they need to go through with their ideas. They know that there can be challenging times, and those are the times where you can see if the coach is good or not, because it is in challenging times that you can grow up. You learn from your mistakes, and the coach can be very helpful and supportive in that way. So challenging times make you grow up. Many ask themselves, how do you get out of those challenging times? Having trust in your work, believing in what you do. If you have an idea, you have to go through with it, and when you have support, you will get the result that you want. You need to believe in what you do and you need to be convinced in what you are doing when you try to pass on these thing to others. Another factor is the time, young coaches need to do knowthat a great opportunity does not come along straight away, right? Of course not, you need to work on things step by step, there are coaches who managed to get great opportunities straight away, and then there are other coaches whose careers developmore slowly and they get recognized late in their careers. The career as a coach is not an easy one. To the coaches, you need to give them time to work properly, you need to find the club that believes in you and gives you the proper amount of time to develop your skills and your work. If I believe in a person that I choose, I need to give him time to express his ideas, I cannot doubt everything at the first difficulty. When the first challenge comes along, that is the time when I need to support the coach, so that we can overcome that difficult time together, because I believe in his capabilities. This is important to know not only in Italy, but everywhere in the world, where we often tend to focus only in the result. Results are important, but you also need to look at the work that everyone is putting in. Sometimes the relationship between clubs and coaches is not easy, especiallywhen you are not getting the result that youwould not want. As amanager, what do you think themanagers need to do better with that relationshipwith coaches? Fewpeople are familiar with what happens in the changing room, as you and players have to stand very quicklywhen the club does not have trust in the coach? Now I am speaking as a player, when you are a player you understand when the club does not trust in the coach. So having back the support of the club is crucial, because at the end of the day, we are all one, when you win everything, it is because all the components, the technical staff, the coach, everyone is united, in the pursuit of one objective. That is the only way to be successful. STAR CHAT Youwork internationallynow as amanager, howdifficult is it? It is not difficult. You need to have time and create these relationships, mantain them, express your ideas, always keeping in mind what is going on in the world of football, globally.
