9TH ASPIRE ACADEMY GLOBAL SUMMIT As I always say, every game is completely different. There are lots of moments where you are not dominating the game. Lots of things are happening that you didn’t want to happen, and you need to have an answer. That’s what I mean by being complete. You need to be as complete as possible in every sense of the word. I will talk about myself, as each coach has its own truth. One of the most wonderful things about football is that even if you are inferior in the game, you can win. There is no other sport like this. In football, there are lots of different ways to win, and you need to pick yours. For me, it is to be as complete as possible, to have lots of answers, and to have a team ready to answer any potential challenges. You prepare a game together with staff and you analyze the opponents, but games can be unpredictable. If the game is different, what happens? Do you use lots of clipswith the players? Are they able to understand in a better way what you are trying to explain? The first day we arrived at Wolves, I prepared 15 minutes with very ugly images. They weren’t aware of those images. Many times, a team is not working is because they don’t know what is going on. They were overanxious, under pressure, and they were blocked. So, we tried to make them see that they needed to improve their attitude. We showed them the different areas, the mid- block, the low block and the high block need different attitudes and different answers. I would highlight the need for big effort in this area. We worked on tiny details that will help us to improve defensively and improve the performance from every player. In the training, we try to understand that there is always something to do.
