Aspire in the World Fellows Book - 2023
/47 Our process starts in preseason, trying to get information to identify the strengths and weak points, so we can mix with the historical data of the player to build our individual approach. We normally divide our daily plan into four small areas that are the pre- activation, strength work, field content and recovery strategies. In these four areas, we try focusing on the coaching staff and individual needs. In post-assessment, precision is crucial for player intervention. The framework, based on historical and assessment results, guides our actions. Age is a key factor, considering different training needsfora20-year-oldversusa35-year- old. Collaboration is essential, especially between physio, performance, fitness, and coaching heads. We streamline priorities, limiting them to three main focuses per situation. Our approach integrates daily player experiences without conflicting with the coach’s field proposals. Field load measurement is paramount for daily evaluation, given the impracticality of daily assessments. The decision to intervene is player- centric, addressing their specific needs rather than imposing absolute priorities. Our schedule varies, distinguishing between weeks with one game and those with two. We aim to maximize slots, providing players with the necessary tools for optimal daily performance. This involves not just doing more, but strategically focusing on recovery and sometimes doing less. We emphasize recovery strategies, including cryotherapy and muscular and hematological evaluations. Our feedback to the coaching staff emphasizes the importance of allowing players to recover, especially if there’s a risk due to additional or chronic load. We also grapple with the challenge of managing players not involved in games. The increasing distance in load between players who frequently play and those who don’t prompts ongoing discussions. We’re working to understand how to stimulate non- playing players adequately, ensuring they’re ready to perform safely when called upon. This remains a challenging aspect throughout the season. Effective communication is paramount in our decision-making process. Morningmeetings bring all stakeholders together to discuss individual needs and reach informed decisions. In our training approach, we prioritize controlling high- speed activities, particularly for players who didn’t participate in matches. GPS monitoring plays a central role in this. Beyond the field, we supplement interventions in the gym, tailored to individual histories, especially those with complex backgrounds. Our role is to scrutinize each player’s on-field performance and identify areas for improvement. Collaborating with everyone involved daily allows us to understand what’s lacking and implement necessary adjustments. Whether it’s intensifying sessions or doing less to safeguard certain players, our approach is adaptable to the specific needs identified. Our reality involves many players who receive physiotherapy or strength and conditioning sessions outside the club. Maintaining effective communication with them is crucial to avoid additional load issues. We’ve CristoforoFiletti ParisSaint-GermainFC: RehabSpecialistPhysical Coach encountered problems in the past and now we focus on communication to understand how external work may impact our training. This is especially relevant for players with personal fitness coaches. Some have coaches at home, and occasionally, external fitness coaches are integrated into the club structure for specific players. Managing this complexity relies on continuous communication to ensure our goals align and potential issues are mitigated. TOPIC 2
