/83 Is “leadership” something that you can achieve, or is it a gift? I think that leadership is something that you achieve every day with your work with your players. It’s not dependent on whether you coach Inter or Lazio, but you achieve this daily with your behavior. Once you are considered a leader, you must do everything to maintain this status. They say you aremaniacal in studying opponents, is this true? Technology has clearly helped us coaches. The opponent’s study is crucial because I think it’s the moment where the game starts. Together with the staff, you plan the game, understand the opponent, and try to find different options. Finally, the players in the game decide what to do. We can try to help them, but it’s in their hands to decide what to do. STAR CHAT Some coaches study the defensive phase in amaniacal way and then leave a lot of freedom. What school are you inwhen youwin the ball back? I think that in the penalty area, during the offensive moment, players put a lot of effort from their capacity. But in the defensive area, we work on it a lot more. I knowthat there are certain attackers, like my brother, who like to attack the first post. There can be attackers, like Immobile, that prefer to go to the second post, and both of them score. So not always what the coach says can be correct.
